This weekend is 4th of July. This is a time we celebrate the founding of The United States of America. We are such a diversified country. I am very proud of my heritage. I am currently editing the cookbook of my grandfather who emigrated to America from Germany. It is with much love that I put this book out for everyone to enjoy. We have made some of the recipes and are enjoying trying dishes we have not eten in years.I am hoping that this book will be available later this month.

Newspaper Interview

I was interviewed this week by the Villages Sun for my book. I meet with the columist and we discussed my book. The paper took lots of photos so I am interested to see which one makes the paper. the article is scheduled to run this Sunday in the book section of the paper. It was fun to talk to someone about my book. Here I was the author talking about my creation and explaining the story and characters. It takes a lot of work to promote your work. This is an opportunity for the newspaper subscribers to learn about me and my main character Homer. If you live in central florida look for the article and snap up a copy of the sunday Villages Sun.

Florida Library Association

I was fortunate to make contact with the Florida Publisher's Association. Through them I was able to list my book for the vendors ara of the Florida Library Association Conference. I asked if maybe they might be interested in having me come and play the mountain dulcimer during the vendor show. I was invited o come and play Wednesday night during the opening festivities. I meet some very nice people and received positive feedback for both playing the dulcimer and for my book. I was invited to comeback today and play some more. I came at 10:30 and played to 3:30. I made some more contacts and even sold a few books. This was the longest period of time that I have played at one time and now my fingers are asking for a rest. This was very good experience. Hopefully I can get lots of sales from the various libraries that attended!

I am excited for everyone to have a chnace to try out these wonderful recipes from someone I so dearly respect and love. i can't wait to see this book on the bookstore shelves!

Spent the day with the Grandkids

Well it is spring break time here in Florida. So we had a chance to have the grandkids come over and spend some time with us. We took them up to Steven Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs. We all had a great time. It was fun introducing them to something non-electric or non-handheld! They took the history lesson in stride and enjoyed learning about a music writer. We took them down to the Suwannee river to show them where Steven Foster got his river name from for his song. I even took out the dulcimer and played for them. Check out the pictures on the dulcimer photos page.

New Flyer

This past week I worked hard on putting together a flyer to tell the story of the adventures of Homer the dulcimer. I am just computer enough savvy to be dangerous. Using a standard word document program I was able to use a flyer template to create my flyer. It is two-sided and in color. It was a lot of fun to do and it looks very professional. I will be using the flyers a lot in marketing. First off they will be at the Librarian conference coming up next week. Hopefully they will find homes at many different libraries where they will be interested in purchasing copies of Dulcimer X'ing. Next I will be at Barberville Spring Fling signing copies of my book and I will have flyers there to hand out as well. Be on the lookout for them. I think you will be impressed.

Good New

The Self Publisher Store catalog is now out. Booksellers have been emailed and are receiving the catalog of books by various independent Authors of which I am one. You can check out the co-op of Authors at www.selfpublisherstore.com. There is a great array of books in many genre's that you may select from. This is a wonderful opportunity for independent book authors to be part of a group that will repesent your book. I am looking forward to this association and being part of something new.

What a great couple of days

I have been working hard the past couple of days. I went in did some research for Homer's next adventure. I visited a couple of sugar mill ruins that will be a part of one of the chapters in Dulcimer Campfire. I made some connections. One library is willing to have me come and do a book signing. I might tie it in with out playing the mountain dulcimer first and then offer the book after. I have a second library that is putting on a Blue Grass festival and I will be having a table with my book being offered. Finally there is a large music event coming up the end of next month and after contacting the organizers it looks like I will have a vendors table there as well. Things are looking up. It is all about getting your name out there and letting people know what you have to offer.

Workin' workin' workin'

I have been very busy working on my new cookbook ' Recipes from my Grandfather - Chef George W. Weber.' My grandfather was an executive chef who passed away in 1984. Recently I found his handwritten recipe book. So I thought to honor him I would edit it and put out a book of his recipes. The book is coming together very well and I am proud of the product that will be available for the public. Because of this I have not been posting regularly on Homer. But today I am off to do some research for Homer's next adventure. I am doing some research at two local plantation ruins that will be one of the chapters in the new book. So look for lots of fun, entertainment and maybe a ghostly story or two!
