What a great couple of days

March 9, 2010
I have been working hard the past couple of days. I went in did some research for Homer's next adventure. I visited a couple of sugar mill ruins that will be a part of one of the chapters in Dulcimer Campfire. I made some connections. One library is willing to have me come and do a book signing. I might tie it in with out playing the mountain dulcimer first and then offer the book after. I have a second library that is putting on a Blue Grass festival and I will be having a table with my book being offered. Finally there is a large music event coming up the end of next month and after contacting the organizers it looks like I will have a vendors table there as well. Things are looking up. It is all about getting your name out there and letting people know what you have to offer.

Workin' workin' workin'

March 8, 2010
I have been very busy working on my new cookbook ' Recipes from my Grandfather - Chef George W. Weber.' My grandfather was an executive chef who passed away in 1984. Recently I found his handwritten recipe book. So I thought to honor him I would edit it and put out a book of his recipes. The book is coming together very well and I am proud of the product that will be available for the public. Because of this I have not been posting regularly on Homer. But today I am off to do some research fo...

Promoting the Dulcimer

February 25, 2010
We were invited to play recently at the Osceola County Fair. We had two 45 minute sets. One on the outdoor stage and one on the indoor stage. It was good to get out and play in front of the public. Every opportunity gives a chance to give exposure to our instrument and to get needed experience. We had a blast. There were three mountain dulcimers and one hammered dulcimer. We had a set play list and we kept to that list as much as possible. I was also the spokesperson so I had to introduce the...

Worked on Homer's next adventure tonight and it was a blast

February 10, 2010
Tonight I was working on the next adventure for Homer. The storyline for one of the chapters came to me and I sat down and let the story come out. It is so much fun to see what is going to happen. I never know until I see it on the page. I have history that I have and sometimes it just comes out and becomes part of the story. I love raveling and exploring and visiting local historical sites. One of those sites will be playing a significant part in this chapter. It will not be this specific si...

Added More Stores

January 20, 2010
I have another retail store and another bookstore where Homer in Dulcimer X'ing can be found. The process is very slow as I try to add retail outlets for my book. Having limited time I can only contact businesses when I have free time. I have been fortunate to have most of the businesses I contact agree to put the book in their stores. I feel great pride in knowing something I have created is being accepted. It also looks like a local newspaper I contacted is willing to do a review of my book...

Having fun with Homer on Facebook

January 18, 2010
I have created a page for Homer on Facebook and I am having fun with different posts for Homer. through Facebook Homer gets to tell a little about himself and different things he may be doing. Each day Homer is up to something else. One day he may be practicing playing the dulcimer. Another what he is going to do with the holiday off. And still another packing for a trip. I want to use his facebook page as a place where Homer can just be Homer and talk about himself a little. I hope a lot mor...

Book Signing?

January 10, 2010
I was out and about in this cold weather. In Florida we had sleet, rain and a little snow flurries. In Florida? Well anyway I was out and about and decided to stop at this local bookstore in Sanford. The store was very eclectic - books, vintage clothing, antiques and records. The had a lot of used and new books with one section devoted to local authors. I introduced myself and talked about my new book. I need to get back with the owner but I was told the person liked to work with local author...

A New Tab

January 8, 2010
Today I have added a new tab to the website. This tab is about Dulcimer X'ing being available as a fundraiser to schools, daycare centers, churches, and youth organizations. I am excited about providing my book as a fundraiser and having Dulcimer X'ing available to our youth. Reading is so important and I want to encourage our children to read more. If I can encourage this by doing a book - funraiser then I am more then happy to be able to do it. When you get a chance check out the new Fundra...

Dulcimer Friends

January 3, 2010
Today was our monthly meeting of our dulcimer group. We had a good turnout with several members who are our winter snowbirds and have now returned for another winter season. It is always good to see old friends and to pick up where we left off last year. Dulcimer groups are first and foremost friends who happen to play and make music together. The dulcimer may be what brought us together but once you are introduced it seems like you have known each other for years. We all have different style...
